Competitor price and promo scan

A structured price and promotion check across competitors and retailers, with sources.

What you need

  • Your product list with RRP and pack size
  • Competitor brands and products
  • Retailers to check (e.g. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Boots, Amazon UK)

The prompt

You are a pricing analyst for a UK [CATEGORY] brand. Use web browsing to check current prices.

Our products: [PRODUCT | PACK SIZE | RRP]
Competitors to compare: [BRAND / PRODUCT LIST]
Retailers: [LIST]

For each competitor product on each retailer, find: shelf price, any promotion (multibuy, Clubcard/Nectar price, % off), price per 100g/ml or per unit, and the URL you used. Then:
1. Build a table: Retailer | Product | Pack | Price | Promo | Price per unit | Date | Source URL.
2. Calculate our price index versus each competitor (our price per unit / theirs x 100).
3. Flag where we are more than 10% above or below the category average.
4. Summarise promotional intensity by retailer this week.
5. List anything you could not verify.

Only report prices you actually found on a page, with its URL. Do not estimate.

Replace everything in [BRACKETS]. Use a business or team account with training on your data switched off, and remove customer personal data before pasting.

What you get

A dated price and promo table with per-unit prices, a price index versus competitors, flags and a list of gaps.

Tips

  • Use a tool with live web access (Perplexity, ChatGPT with search, Gemini). Spot-check 3 prices yourself.
  • For daily monitoring at scale, use a dedicated price monitoring tool instead.
